Door to door canvassers

Two representives from Npower (gas & electric suppliers) knocked on our door this morning asking questions about our current energy provider. As as I was speaking I happened to be looking at one of the canvassers who turned out to be a 'trainee'.

The woman who asked me a question then all of a sudden burst out "why are you looking at him when answering my questions?"

Well, I couldn't believe what she'd just said I so I told her that "since they were on my property I may address who I like".

The Npower representitive then said "well I think you're extremely rude!"

I told the woman that I thought she was also rude considering she was employed to deal politely with potential customers and that what she'd just said gave the company a poor reputation.

She bade good day, but before she left I asked her name, which she gave me, and told her I would be contacting Npower about her attitude towards potential customers, especially in front a trainee.

I immediately contacted Npower's complaints department on 0845 1205770 and a gentlemen said he apologised for the representitives attitude and that this sometimes happens where some representitives are rude and he thanked me for letting Npower know of my grievance and that my complaint would be logged and followed up.

The moral here is: If this is the type of customer relations directed towards potential future customers what are the customer relations like 'after' subscription?

Further, the man in complaints said he was glad that I had contacted them, indicating that this happens frequently but people rarely complain about it!

Come on people, if you feel you have been insulted then you MUST complain, otherwise these arrogant salespersons will continue to harrass old people and young alike!
Let's see some British spirit and put the right people in the right jobs by filtering out the abusive door-to-door nuisances who's sole intent when questioned is to try and spoil your day by adopting a 'holier than thou' attitude.

Remember, they are on your property WITHOUT your invitation and you are under no obligation to answer any questions.

I'll post up here IF and WHEN I receive my promised response from Npowers complaints department.
